energyclubnz launched as an electricity retailer in July 2017 and has quickly expanded to cover 97% of New Zealand smart meters. Our Founder David Goadby launched this business under an 'electricity at cost for a small weekly club fee' model with 2 key aims in mind. The first is that if we don't make any money off the electricity at all then we will be heavily motivated to help people to save as much as possible on their electricity by using less, becoming more efficient and introducing new technologies. We see this as part of our individual actions to help the world to reduce its climate impact. The second motivation was to try and help fix what David believes is a 'broken' market where only a small % of users are on a retailers best deal and traditional companies are more focused on driving money out of their customers pockets into the pockets of their shareholders. Our focus is to deliver great savings without costing the earth. In years to come we hope to be considered as a good company, doing good. Stuff is a major investor and joint venture partner. This business fits with their core strategic aim to help communities connect and thrive.
