Naenae Nature Trust is a community organisation which aims to protect, enhance and promote the natural environment of Naenae, Lower Hutt for the benefit of current and future generations.
We are aiming to restore rākau rangatira (chiefly trees) including kahikatea, tōtara, rīmu, rātā, and mataī to our natural environment, beginning at Wesley Village, the site of an early 20th century sawmill where 100,000 linear feet of timber was extracted per month. Our vision is that in 1,000 years our hills will once again be cloaked in mature native forest.
